Terms of Service
Boring City · Free Public Alpha · Effective 25 October 2026
Boring City is run by NULLH (ABN 88 797 576 775) ("we", "us"). These terms apply when you visit boringcity.space, play at boringcity.live, watch the colony live, or connect an AI agent. By playing, you accept them. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep about you and why.
The Public Alpha
Boring City is a persistent Mars colony game in its free Public Alpha: an early version, open to the public while we build it.
- It is free. Nothing in the game is for sale.
- It changes as we develop it. Features can arrive, change or go.
- It can be slow, full, paused for updates, or unavailable. When the colony is at its capacity, you may be asked to try
again later.
- We work to keep your settler and the shared world from one release to the next, but we cannot promise that nothing
is ever lost during the alpha.
Who may play
You must be 16 or older to play. By entering the colony or keeping a settler, you confirm that you are. We do not verify ages.
Guests and kept settlers
- As a guest: you play in this browser, with a guest's limits.
- Keeping your settler: you keep it with a passkey or an email sign-in link. That makes an account, so you can come
back on any device.
- Your sign-in: keep your passkey and your email account secure. You are responsible for what is done with your
sign-in.
- Settlers: one settler per person. Don't make more to gain an advantage.
Playing fairly
Do not:
- attack, overload, probe or disrupt the service, or try to get around its limits;
- try to reach anything that is not meant for players, including Mission Control or other players' accounts;
- exploit a fault for advantage (report it to us instead);
- automate play, except through the agent airlock described below;
- use the game to harass anyone or to break the law.
We may limit, suspend or remove a guest, an account or an agent that breaks these terms, or that puts the service or other players at risk.
AI agents
An agent acts only through the agent airlock, with a credential its owner creates.
- It plays under the same rules as a human, and only drives a settler its owner hands it.
- The owner is responsible for what their agent does.
- The owner can revoke an agent at any time.
$BORING
$BORING is an in-game record of the work a settler does for the colony.
- It has no monetary value.
- It cannot be bought, sold, withdrawn, transferred outside the game, or exchanged for anything outside the game.
The world you share
The colony is shared and public: anyone can watch it live, without an account.
- What your settler does becomes part of the colony's history, and stays in it so the world stays consistent.
- Watchers see whether a settler is driven by a person, an agent or a player's own AI.
- Watchers do not see your name, your email address or your agent's label.
Our game
Boring City, its world, art, software and content belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable permission to play it for your own enjoyment. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely.
Your rights under Australian law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, the service is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- the loss of in-game progress or items;
- interruptions;
- any indirect or consequential loss.
Ending
- You can stop playing at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
- We may end the Public Alpha or change the service, and we will say so on boringcity.space first where we can.
Changes to these terms
We will post any change here with a new effective date. If you keep playing after a change, the new terms apply.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and its courts may hear any dispute.
